(6/6)CASSCF and CASPT2/6-31G calculations have been performed to understand the experimental finding of Goldstein and Benzon (J. Am. Chem. Soc. 1972, 94, 5119) that exo-bicyclo[2.2.0]hexane-d(4) (1b) undergoes ring inversion to form endo-bicyclo[2.2.0]hexane-d(4) (4b) faster than it undergoes cleavage to form cis,trans-1,5-hexadiene-d(4) (3b). Goldstein and Benzon also found that the latter reaction, which must occur via a chairlike transition structure (TS), is much faster than cleavage of 1b to trans,trans-1,5-hexadiene-d(4) (2b) via a boatlike TS. Our calculations reveal that all three of these reactions involve ring opening of 1, through a boat diradical TS (BDTS), to form a twist-boat diradical intermediate (TBDI). TBDI can reclose to 4 via a stereoisomeric boat diradical TS (BDTS'), or TBDI can cleave, either via a half-chair diradical TS (HCDTS) to form 3 or via a boat TS (BTS) to form 2. The calculated values of DeltaH(++) = 34.6 kcal/mol, DeltaS(++) = -1.6 eu, and DeltaH(++) = 35.2 kcal/mol, DeltaS(++) = 2.0 eu for ring inversion of 1 to 4 and cleavage of 1 to 3, respectively, are in excellent agreement with the values measured by Goldstein and Benzon. The higher value of DeltaH(++) = 37.6 kcal/mol, computed for cleavage of TBDI to 2, is consistent with the experimental finding that very little 2b is formed when 1b is pyrolyzed. The relationships between BDTS, HCDTS, and BTS and the chair and boat Cope rearrangement TSs (CCTS and BCTS) are discussed.  相似文献

The values of the parameters or state variables of a set-membership model are classified only as feasible (consistent with the observations and with specified bounds on output error and unknown forcing) or not. Such classification is compatible with worst-case design or prediction, but uninformative about the average quality of fit to the observations. Also, it neglects any distributional information which may be available. The paper addresses the problem of grading the feasible set, according to how well each feasible value matches the data or whether it meets simple requirements on distribution. Asymmetric photochemical synthesis using circularly polarized (CP) light is theoretically attractive as a means of absolute asymmetric synthesis and postulated as an explanation for homochirality on Earth. Using an asymmetric photochemical synthesis of a dihydrohelicene as an example, we demonstrate the principle that two wavelengths of CP light can be used to control separate reactions. In doing so, a photostationary state (PSS) is set up in such a way that the enantiomeric induction intrinsic to each step can combine additively, significantly increasing the asymmetric induction possible in these reactions. Moreover, we show that the effects of this dual wavelength approach can be accurately determined by kinetic modelling of the PSS. Finally, by coupling a PSS to a thermal reaction to trap the photoproduct, we demonstrate that higher enantioselectivity can be achieved than that obtainable with single wavelength irradiation, without compromising the yield of the final product.  相似文献

Charge transfer dynamics between an adsorbed molecule and a rutile TiO(2)(110) surface have been investigated in three organometallic dyes related to multicenter water splitting dye complexes: Ru 535 (cis-bis(isothiocyanato)bis(2,2'-bipyridyl-4,4'-dicarboxylato)-ruthenium(II)), Ru 455 (cis-bis(2,2'-bipyridyl)-(2,2'-bipyridyl-4,4'-dicarboxylic acid)-ruthenium(II)), and Ru 470 (tris(2,2'-bipyridyl-4,4'-dicarboxylic acid)-ruthenium(II)). The adsorption of the dye molecules on the rutile TiO(2)(110) surface has been studied using core-level and valence photoemission. Dye molecules were deposited in situ using ultrahigh vacuum electrospray deposition. Core-level photoemission spectra reveal that each complex bonds to the surface via deprotonation of two carboxylic groups. All three dye complexes show evidence of ultrafast charge transfer to the TiO(2) substrate using the core-hole clock implementation of resonant photoemission spectroscopy.  相似文献

A technique is introduced that monitors the depletion of intracellular ground state oxygen concentration ([3O2]) during photodynamic therapy of Mat‐LyLu cell monolayers and cell suspensions. The photosensitizer Pd(II) meso‐tetra(4‐carboxyphenyl)porphine (PdT790) is used to manipulate and indicate intracellular [3O2] in both of the in vitro models. The Stern–Volmer relationship for PdT790 phosphorescence was characterized in suspensions by flowing nitrogen over the suspension while short pulses of 405 nm light were used to excite the sensitizer. The bleaching of sensitizer and the oxygen consumption rate were also measured during continuous exposure of the cell suspension to the 405 nm laser. Photodynamic therapy (PDT) was conducted in both cell suspensions and in cell monolayers under different treatment conditions while the phosphorescence signal was acquired. The intracellular [3O2] during PDT was calculated by using the measured Stern–Volmer relationship and correcting for sensitizer photobleaching. In addition, the amount of oxygen that was consumed during the treatments was calculated. It was found that even at large oxygen consumption rates, cells remain well oxygenated during PDT of cell suspensions. For monolayer treatments, it was found that intracellular [3O2] is rapidly depleted over the course of PDT.  相似文献

The activation of bubbles by an acoustic field has been shown to temporarily open the blood-brain barrier (BBB), but the trigger cause responsible for the physiological effects involved in the process of BBB opening remains unknown. Here, the trigger cause (i.e., physical mechanism) of the focused ultrasound-induced BBB opening with monodispersed microbubbles is identified. Sixty-seven mice were injected intravenously with bubbles of 1-2, 4-5, or 6-8 μm in diameter and the concentration of 10(7) numbers/ml. The right hippocampus of each mouse was then sonicated using focused ultrasound (1.5 MHz frequency, 100 cycles pulse length, 10 Hz pulse repetition frequency, 1 min duration). Peak-rarefactional pressures of 0.15, 0.30, 0.45, or 0.60 MPa were applied to identify the threshold of BBB opening and inertial cavitation (IC). Our results suggest that the BBB opens with nonlinear bubble oscillation when the bubble diameter is similar to the capillary diameter and with inertial cavitation when it is not. The bubble may thus have to be in contact with the capillary wall to induce BBB opening without IC. BBB opening was shown capable of being induced safely with nonlinear bubble oscillation at the pressure threshold and its volume was highly dependent on both the acoustic pressure and bubble diameter.  相似文献

The static and dynamic magnetic properties of a FeTaN/FeSm/FeTaN trilayer are investigated by alternating gradient field magnetometry and Brillouin light scattering. Evidence is given for a strong in-plane uniaxial anisotropy induced by a magnetic field applied during deposition. The spin-wave spectrum consists of different modes, with either surface or bulk character. A nonreciprocal behavior of the spin-wave frequency due to the exchange field exerted on the FeTaN layer at the FeSm interface is observed.  相似文献
